The QuiGig Freelancer Profile
One of the QuiGig’s best features is our dynamic freelancer profile. It provides multiple customizable sections, including image and profile sample uploads. In a situation where there is typically a substantial disconnect (due to the remote nature of freelancing in general), QuiGig’s profile features allows a potential customer to catch a glimpse of your personality. By creating a robust profile, you are attracting and inviting people to come check you out, find out who you are, and discover how you can help them!
Our profile has all of the benefits of a standard freelancer profile template such as the showcase of your resume and prior work experiences, but we have additional benefits as well. To visit and complete your QuiGig profile, travel to the top right box with your profile picture (if you are logged in) and click “Profile”. From here, you will be able to begin editing! We strongly recommend you keep this blog open while you update and edit your profile, as you can find information about QuiGig and tips throughout this informative article!
The Basics
Upon logging in, you will see your basic profile information. Be sure to look at your coin, or Quig balance. This is one of the most important aspects of our profile, especially given the prevalence of Quig use on the site. You will need to use Quigs to complete certain actions on QuiGig and if you truly want to make money, and help a large number of people though QuiGig, you will need proper Quig management. Upon signing up, we give you 500 Quigs, and refill those 500 Quigs each month free of charge. You can find your Quig balance in the top right of your profile, but also at the top right of the main navigation bar, ensuring that you will always have the balance readily available for you to review, and for you to add more as needed.
You can also easily see personal information about your activity on QuiGig, like the number of gigs that you have completed (it’s okay if that number is zero!) and the amount of gigs you have ordered. This is also where you will be able to view notifications such as user contacts. The extent to which you use the site can be a determining factor in reliability for someone hiring you to complete a gig, and comfort for those working through QuiGig. As you complete more gigs through the platform, you not only build up authority, you gain a working knowledge of how QuiGig functions, giving you a leg up on the competition! The last thing you can see here is your QuiGig ranking. Our ranking structure set up is simple and revolving around the question: “Would you work with them again?” and the short answer of “Yes” or “No.” This rating will also be seen by someone considering working with you, so it is of the utmost importance to keep your rating high and make sure to rate the people you worked with properly and promptly.
Filling out the Service section of your profile is crucial if you would like to make money on QuiGig. Without toggling on the “Available for Hire” button, you will not receive emails and you will not get gigs. Before doing that though, you need to decide which services you provide. We have a list of over 900 services now active on QuiGig, and you can choose as many as you are capable of offering. NOTE: You are able to both work for hire and hire for work on QuiGig using the same profile, so be sure to check your status availability!
Work Experience
The prior “Work Experience” section of your profile is the most in depth way to show off your personal and professional skills to a potential employer. You can submit up to 5 past jobs, but we suggest to limit that to the three most relevant jobs that show off the skills that you are currently willing and able to provide. As opposed to traditional employers, QuiGig users are less concerned with gaps in employment or non-traditional methods of skill acquisition. Our users want fair and honest people who can get the job done over those who have pristine work experience but lack viable skill sets. In this section, you not only have the ability to include basic information about jobs you’ve had such as your title, company name and dates employed, but you can also add written details about each job, outlining what you did there, what you learned, and what you can now provide to others based on your experience.
If you run a small business, or own a large one, you can indicate that in the Business section. Many freelancers have been running small businesses for years, but may not have been advertising what they do online. Now is your chance as a freelancer to talk about what you have built and how you have helped others. As someone hiring freelancers, you have an opportunity to get to know your potential client on a more personal level.
Your Portfolio
The Portfolio section is arguably the most important section to fill out on your profile. We have left our portfolio section rather unstructured and open-ended, allowing our providers with a wide range of services, skills or experience to dictate how it should be shared and displayed. A user can upload pictures, videos, and any other form of media to their QuiGig portfolio. Many QuiGig users upload photos of previous work that shows off their professional prowess and if they don’t have a job that lends well to photos (think: teacher), they can upload flattering photos of them winning awards, or in their uniform. The most experienced and savvy QuiGig users will post a PDF version of their resume, allowing the potential client access to more information without violating QuiGig Privacy Policy. Although we do allow almost complete freedom in how you want to set up your profile, there are some limitations. For photos, you can only upload them in .PNG or .JPG file types.
Not every industry will have specific certifications that you need to have in order to work, but if you do in fact work in such an industry, this section is a must-complete. Many of the more technical professions require certifications to even work in the field, such as computer programmer and commercial pilot, meaning before you even think about inserting these jobs as ones that you can perform on QuiGig, you must first do your homework and complete those certifications! You can list the name of the certification(s) (use the full name – no acronyms!) and the institution from which you received it, the month and the year you completed it, the duration of the certification (some certifications last only six months, and others last for a lifetime), and a detailed description about what the certification entails. Take the time to fill in the open-ended description so your potential employers have a clear idea of what you learned and what you are now capable of providing them.
Education
We include the “Education” section to help win you jobs where your level and avenue of schooling are a substantial differentiator. In industries like law, tech, teaching, and others, your education could solely dictate whether or not you get the gig. Be sure to include the basics about your education, like where you attended university, when you graduated, and what your degree was called, but more importantly than those elements, thoroughly fill out the open-ended “Description” option, even if it says that it’s optional. Your curriculum, and even your degree title can fluctuate so much from school to school, oftentimes making the mandatory information of QuiGig not enough for someone to accurately understand what you can provide. You do not need to include a detailed or lengthy C.V. In the “Prior Jobs” section, focus on what you learned that is pertinent to the gigs that you want to complete, and maybe a brief summary about your latest degree in general.
Social Media
The last but not least profile feature available on QuiGig is the Social section. This is where you can provide links to your personal or professional social media accounts for potential clients and and workers can see who you are outside of QuiGig. As a general rule, freelancers will be asked to do certain things that a traditional employee just won’t – whether that is to meet at someone’s house for a brief meeting, sending over samples of work, or working after normal or traditional business hours. Potential employers need to feel confident that the person behind the freelancer profile can handle such requests. A dip into your personal life can give them that confidence.
On QuiGig, we allow people to submit links to virtually all of the different social media channels that people use on a regular basis, and each one holds its own individual value. Facebook is the most used social media site for people over the age of 35, which just so happens to be the average age range of most freelance customers. With that information in mind, add your Facebook and touch it up to make it palatable to someone who will potentially hire you for your services. Instagram is often the best platform to demonstrate your work especially if you are an artist, a crafter, performer, etc. Your social sites could not only demonstrate your professional prowess, but also showcase the personal connection and pride of your work; something that is invaluable to a potential customer.
You can share your Twitter profile. We recommend taking advantage of sharing your Twitter profile if you are active and engaged Tweeter. QuiGig also provides an option to share your LinkedIn profile. If you want consistent gigs, you’ll definitely want to share your LinkedIn profile! If you were not aware, LinkedIn is the premier social media channel for the professional world, featuring industry-specific content streams, professional connection tools, and development courses. Many high-level employers are already solely using LinkedIn to hire employees, so it makes sense that even potential freelance employers will first look up service providers on LinkedIn before making the decision to work with them. Also, if you have created a LinkedIn Profile, or have your resume stored on a digital document, you can also copy and paste all of your relevant information to your QuiGig profile which will dramatically reduce this process. It is essential to have both available to prospective clients and customers.
And there you have it! Your QuiGig profile is complete and fully stocked. Completely filling out your profile has been shown to win you more jobs, so be ready when those requests come flying in!

Communicating as a Freelancer of QuiGig
Posted on March 9th, 2018
Navigating QuiGig: A Site Overview
It isn’t just millenials who want things fast anymore. The internet’s pervasiveness has taken its toll on every generation and young people are no longer the only ones that are screen addicted. According to a study run by Colorado University, baby boomers are spending on average more time on the internet than millennials in the 16 to 34 age range. What does this mean for freelancers and the gig economy? Quickness is a must.
The quicker an action can be completed online, whether this is getting a ride, buying clothes, or ordering food, the more instant the gratification must be. Not only does a quick process lead to higher customer satisfaction, but it frees up the user to get on with their lives and get off of their phones. This quickness and ease is an important part of our website, and you can tell almost immediately after logging on that we have streamlined the gig ordering and receiving system. First and foremost, a site must function in a way that a user of today will appreciate. While QuiGig has all of our key features of the site prominently displayed making it easy for you, the user, to find them. However, there are a few aspects of the site that we want to make sure you’re aware of!
The Home Page
Our homepage is pretty straightforward and we have no doubt that you can navigate it to find what you need, but we are going to help you navigate it. As you scroll up from the bottom, you will find a video outlining exactly what we do, who we are, and how we can help you. Next, you will see a short description of our processes for getting a gig and hiring for a gig. We at QuiGig are keeping the connection between the freelancer and the person needing the service very simple and streamlined, and we pride ourselves on not wasting your time while still keeping you safe and secure online. What you will see next, is the crown jewel of our website; the search bar.
From here, you can find gigs in your local area. As you can see, we have a functional dropdown underneath the actual full service search bar that you can utilize to the most popular gigs in your local area. The services that appear will change based on location, season, and time, hopefully aiding in your search to complete a short term gig quickly. If you want a more fleshed out search option, use the main search bar to find nearly any service you can think of. We have over 900 services displayed on the platform, from contortionist services, to house sitter, to petting zoo entertainment with so much in between. If you don’t see a service that you think we should feature, whether you need that service or you can provide it, send us an email and we can add it to the list! In an environment where technology moves so rapidly, new job titles pop up everyday. Who would have thought in 2018 that one of our most popular services would be 3D Printing!
Moving up from the search bar, you will get to the top navigation of our site. Here, you can learn more about the company, answer any questions you may have, sign up, and if you have already done that, view your profile.
Your Profile
Last week, we posted a blog detailing the in’s and out’s of a QuiGig profile, including tips and tricks to building the best profile, and the psychology behind driving a potential customer’s decision about whether or not they want to work with you. We hope that you read that one first, but if not, this little section should suffice! Profiles are vastly important in the gig economy sphere because typically you will not get the opportunity to form a personal connection until after they see your profile. They act as a gatekeeper for you to win (or lose) jobs, so it is of the utmost importance that you utilize it properly, and that you know where you have to go to edit it on our platform. Step 1: Go to the homepage. From there, if you are signed in, you should see your profile image (if you don’t have one yet, you will see your initials surrounded by a circle). Click on that. Once you see the dropdown, click on “Your Profile,” to get started on edits.
Underneath the profile section, you will find the “My Gigs” page. This is where–you guessed it–you can see the gigs that you have both completed and requested. For a new user, this page will be rather barren, but the more gigs you fulfill with QuiGig, the more complete it will become! In addition to this page filling up with your completed gigs, you will accrue ratings which will make you a more attractive candidate for the next gig. Since our hiring system eliminates objective factors from being relevant in the decision making process, (disclosing a service provider’s age, gender, and physical appearance), your rating plays a huge factor in getting the job.
You can also visit the Quig Store, a new, integral feature recently added to our website! “Quigs” are the platform currency that you use to perform actions on the website. The use of Quigs, as opposed to cash or your credit card, allow us to significantly reduce transaction fees and limit spam orders and bids. Convenience and support for all users are very important to us, and the implementation of quigs on our platform aids in creating the environment that we want for our community. You can buy Quigs in three different bundles, the most being 2000 for around 21 dollars. Considering it costs 100 coins for a user to place an order, and only 200 for a service provider to make a bid on that order, no matter what your role within QuiGig is you will be able to perform it many times for around 20 bucks!
That sums up the introduction to our website! We’ve done our best to keep it as simple and straightforward as possible in order to get you out in the world and completing more gigs! We want to make you more money, not force you to spend ample time or money on our platform. As we continue our rapid growth, we will be adding features to our site to enhance your experience with QuiGig.

Creating a Stellar Freelancing Profile on QuiGig

QuiGig: is it free? Yes and No.
Through my time as a professional, I have talked to many people who are working as their own bosses, thus using sites similar to QuiGig. Many of them love it (understandably so), but almost all of them share the same common problem – that they have to spend more than they are comfortable with to advertise their services. They feel as though they have to have money to make money, and have shared with me the times in which they have lost more than what the actual job is worth in just simply posting the job. From the beginning, we at QuiGig have found this to be unacceptable, so we have made advertising our service, “free”.
Before we continue, it is important to notice the difference between free and “free”. I am not saying that we will not get paid as a business and I am certainly not guaranteeing you that you will never have to break out your credit card to use QuiGig. What we can offer is monetary rewards for responsiveness and a moderate level of free use every single month.
Visit our FAQ for the TL;DR of these, otherwise, continue!
We offer a coin-based transaction system in which you use QuiGig-branded currency to perform actions. We will give you 500 free coins each month, which will allow you to send 5 bids per month for free. If you go past this coin amount, you will have to pay for more coins, which can be purchased on our site. If you want to hold your coins tightly, you can answer to open bids quickly and get reimbursed for your coin spend if you are one of the first three to respond. Obviously, if you are too slow, you will lose those coins, but if you are fast, you may never have to pay for advertising your service! But probably not.
We believe that this style of work, as opposed to a traditional nine to five, is the future of employment (maybe), and want to see many many people transition over to it. Our “free” system ensures that people can dip their toes into the gig economy without an initial monetary investment. Everyone deserves a clean start and a chance to make their mark on their own, and we are happy to enable all of our users, not just our power users – although we love you too!
I am happy that QuiGig can bring you a system in which some of these problems can be lessened. We are growing in a direction in which we will always be looking out for service providers new and old and will have new features that make the service offering system safer, more secure, and highly streamlined! Subscribe to our blog, or get on our email list to stay informed.

QuiGig’s Love Affair with Houston
On the outside, Houston looks like a bloated and sprawling southern-fried town being propped up by petrol and NASA and being run on fast food. For the people that live here (including me), this couldn’t be farther from the truth. The most famous mural in the city that is covered with them reads “Houston is Inspired, Hip, Funky” – but this isn’t exactly genuine either. Although we are new and future-facing and innovative, Houston isn’t glamorous. Houston, to me, is a sum of all of its parts. It’s culture is derived from the booming construction industry, the altruism of one of the biggest medical centers in the world, the unbelievably diverse cuisines, and most importantly the brilliant, gritty, wonderfully nice people that inhabit this growing metropolis.
QuiGig was built to celebrate both industry and diversity, bringing a platform where anyone willing to work hard has a chance to show their skills and get paid for it. The gig economy is a place that reflects the altruistic and hardworking nature of Houston, but doesn’t currently celebrate diversity. As opposed to traditional, word-of-mouth advertising, your online profile matters as much as your work, meaning freelancers are being judged on factors not important to the work that they can do. QuiGig is breaking this trend, forcing people to be judged on one quality alone – how well they can complete the job.
Launching QuiGig in Houston was simple happenstance, as the entire team has lived, worked, and studied here for years. Houston is our home, and we get the privilege of cherishing what makes it special each day. We are lucky we get the opportunity to add to such a wonderfully unique city. We are working hard, just as all of you other Houstonians are, to give back to this city all that it has given us, and help our neighbors find more gigs, make more money, and gain the experience they either want or need.
Luckily for us, Houston is the perfect city for our platform. Of all of the places in the United States where the gig economy is flourishing, Houston is towards the top of the list (thanks Uber and Lyft). Because of our friendly, hardworking, and accepting attitudes, Houstonians trust other Houstonians. We will begin service in Houston in just a couple of weeks, and we hope that you use our platform to better yourself, better your community, and get to know your neighbors and fellow Houstonians a bit better.
